Save the Internet.com has released a new commercial in their effort to get more information to the consumers. They took a very “mars attacks” theme for the commercial, going so far as painting AT&T’s CEO Ed Whitacre green.
DTE Energy in Detroit may start offering renewable electricity to its consumers in the coming year. The proposal still needs to be approved by the Michigan Public Service Commission. I’m not really sure if it will be cheaper or not. From what the article states, it’s going to cost about $2.50 per month for every 100 kilowatt-hours of renewable energy. I’m not sure if that’s in addition to the cost that we’re already paying for or what. I’m hoping to get more information soon.
They found a 4800 year-old prosthetic eye at the Burnt City historical site in southeastern Iran. Archaeologists are saying that it probably looked more like the real thing than most devices previously found throughout the history. They are still examining it to see what it is made of, but still, it’s kind of cool that it survived this long.
An airline associated with Spring Airlines in China was busted for selling seats on flights from Shanghai and to Jinan for 1 yuan (13 cents). I guess the government in China has state mandated prices for airfare and they only allow companies to offer discounts of up to 45%. For the few that were able to use those tickets, that had to be exciting. I’m not sure how far away the cities are, but if you need to fly there, something tells me it is a good distance. Now that’s a deal.
Oh yeah, one more thing for the pro-net neutrality supporters. HR-5252, Sen. Ted Steven’s telcom bill, is dead with the end of the 109th Congress. When they reconvene in January, Congress will be filled with more net neutrality friendly legislators. Granted, the telcoms will only come back, but at least this time they can’t ignore the grassroots efforts that have informed the public about what is going on. Afterall, Time Magazine made a very valid point with this year’s “person of the year“.

So I’m in the kitchen making Jesse a sandwich and a light bulb goes on in his head…he has a wife who is barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen making him dinner.

I completely forgot to put up the pictures from Game Night II. Whoops. Thankfully they were still on my camera. I can’t believe I did that, but either way, they are up and ready for viewing now. Here are the pictures from Game Night 2 (Nov 11th).

So I was checking some of the news sites and I thought I would pass along some of the more interesting ones.
Plesiosaur in Antarctica
Scientists found complete skeltal remains of a Plesiosaur on Vega Island in Antarctica as well as a bunch of partial remains. Here are a couple of stories on the find: Discovery Channel, Earth Times, Reuters or the Associated Press
Intelligent Life?
Earthling intelligence created by comets? That’s what some scientists are trying to figure out after testing carbon-rich molecules that were found on the comet Wild-2. Here’s the complete story.
NASA’s 14th Great Moonbuggy Race
Now this would be a senior project. High school and college students get to create and enter their own lunar rovers that meet NASA design standards. Here’s the complete story.
Dear Santa
Santa actually writes back! Here’s the proof.
The Life of a Squirrel
A biologist at the University of Illinois-Chicago wants to know what the life of a city squirrel is like. It’s odd, but here’s the story.

So it’s definitely official. We’re moving to Rochester Hills, Michigan. Jesse and I spent the last two days on the east side of the state looking for a new apartment. We saw six different apartments with varying floor plans and we were able to narrow it down to two. We had a hard time deciding between the two apartments so we went back on Friday to see them again. Let’s just say, the decision was taken out of our hands. How you ask, well let me explain.
The first apartment was a two bedroom townhouse that was three stories. The two bedrooms were on the second floor with the kitchen and living area on the first floor. The third floor was an unfinished basement. Jesse fell in love with this floor plan. He could put the office in the basement and Ian would have his own room. I wasn’t crazy about it because it was more than what we were spending on an apartment now and we didn’t want to spend that much since our plan is to buy a house after a year. Plus the security deposit was one month’s rent. That was steep.
The second apartment was a two bedroom apartment, single floor. We had our choice between first and second floor, but the entire place was on one floor. Our last two apartments were two stories so this seemed small to Jesse, which he wasn’t crazy about. This seemed to be Jesse’s biggest complaint. The apartment complex is surrounded by a nature preserve, which I kind of liked. Plus we could sign an 18 month lease and still take $200 off of what we’re spending now. Financially, this was the better deal.
So we were having an issue deciding which one to do. Jesse wanted to see if we could talk the first place into reducing their security deposit. If they would, it would be more feasible for us to take it. The idea was to go back and look at the floor plans again, during which Jesse would casually bring up the security deposit issue. Jesse wanted to take a second look at the basement and started envisioning how he was going to set up the office down there. During some talks about the construction of the basement, I made a very BIG observation. There wasn’t any electric outlets in the basement. You can image Jesse’s disappointment when I mentioned this observation. Needless to say, we went right to the second complex and filled out an application and had our new address two hours later.
So it’s actually happening. We take possession of the new apartment on December 20th. The plan is to get the movers in here between christmas and new years and then I’ll be moving out there permanently the first full weekend in January. Jesse is actually going out tomorrow since he has to start work on Monday. He’s going to be staying with PJ and Chris until we can get into the apartment, but that should only be about 2 weeks. Now I have to get all the utilities up and running.
So let the headache of moving begin…
