The First “Prepared Birthing” Class

Filed Under (Ian, Jesse) by myjaxon on 24-01-2007

Last night was our first Prepared Birthing class at the hospital. There has got to be more to this class than what we saw last night. I mean, they went over what to expect for contractions, what the birthing process was (see below for Jesse’s reaction), and some basic relaxation techniques. Although, I have to say, if you’re going to make us practice relaxation techniques, then you should probably have us doing it on something more than what amounts to a concrete floor with a thin layer of carpet.

I think the best part of the class was watching Jesse’s reaction to the video. If you know my husband, then you also know that he had his laptop with him and was logged into IRC. Here’s the log from the video portion of last night:
[19:39] morgajel - oh man it’s movie time
[19:40] morgajel - part of me wants to scream AAAAAAAAH AAAAAAAAH and run out of the room
[20:01] morgajel - ok that’s just wrong
[20:01] morgajel - OMG
[20:01] morgajel - IT’S HEAD IS STICKING OUT
[20:02] morgajel - VIDEOBAD VIDEOBAD
[20:03] morgajel - GOD THAT’S ONE UGLY BABY
[20:04] morgajel - OH GROSS
[20:04] morgajel - placenta BAD

Found some interesting news regarding Nora Roberts. It seems that Lifetime television is making four of her novels into original tv movies. Angel Falls will be aired on Jan. 29th; Montana Sky on Feb. 5th; Blue Smoke on Feb. 12; Carolina Moon on Feb. 19th. I’m kind of scared on how they’ll treat the movies. From what I’ve read on Nora’s website, she seems happy with Montana Sky. Hard to say about the rest. My biggest fear is that Lifetime will focus on the romance of the stories and maybe even embellish it. We’ll see how they do though.

I found a bunch of excerpts for some of the Lord John series on Diana Gabaldon’s site. Still no word on when book seven is going to be released though.

Klingons in the White House

Filed Under (News) by myjaxon on 16-01-2007

All I can say is…WTF. On January 10th, US House Representative David Wu claimed there are klingons in the white house during his one minute morning speech. I guess it’s true. There are geeks in the white house. I really need to find a copy of the transcript.

75% over

So the move is about 75%-90% over. Give or take. I am now in Rochester Hills with Jesse full time, I’m no longer employed, I have a new OB doctor and the apartment is basically unpacked, but still trashed. The new place is definitely smaller than the old one, but that may be only because the new one is a single floor apartment with two bedrooms. Before we had a two bedroom two floor apartment. I like this place though; it seems like it’ll be a lot more cozier. We’ll use all the rooms and we won’t have to divide them into different “entertainments”. Although, I am missing the bookshelves. We still haven’t figured out where we’re putting the 500+ books, but we’ll manage.

Jesse is still enjoying the job. It’s been one month and all seems to be going well. He isn’t stressed out or worried about stuff breaking. Well, besides the obvious worries that is. This place seems to know what they are about though. They are slowly bringing him onto projects, they have given him time to learn the systems, and they actually believe in testing programs and upgrades before launching them. So Jesse is coming home happier than when he was at the last place.

Ian is starting to get cramped. He’s been moving a lot more and causing me all sorts of uncomfortableness. We found a new OB doctor who is directly associated with Crittenton Medical Center. That’s going to be good when March comes around. Ian had a checkup with him on the 11th and everything is still going good. His heart rate was around 150 per minute, which has been normal for him. We start Lamaze in a couple of weeks. Everything is starting to pick up speed for the pregnancy, but we’re still about 8 weeks out.

I think that’s it for now. I’ll post pictures of the new place once it’s clean. The goal is to have everything clean by the 19th so when we have the baby shower on the 20th, we’ll know where to put stuff and it won’t be a mess for long. :)

The Joys of Moving

Filed Under (Moving) by myjaxon on 03-01-2007

So we’re practically finished with the move.  We took possession of the new apartment on the 20th of Dec and we moved all of our stuff on the 29th.  I stayed with Jesse over the holiday weekend to start the unpacking process and got a lot of it done.  Granted, it’s not all done, but the kitchen is unpacked and most of the stuff in the living is out of the boxes.  The office really hasn’t been touched yet and that’s going to be the biggest job.

Yes, we still have the Ramblewood apartment until the 8th and I’m still working until the 5th.  So you may be asking “where is she staying?”.  I am staying in our old apartment with our bed, my computer, the servers, and enough clothes and food to last me through the 8th.  That’s not a lot, is it?  The plan was: work during the day, have the internet at night to keep me busy/entertained.  Sounds like a good plan, right?  I mean, I already do a lot of that now.  However, my computer hates me and decided this was a good time to tell me.  The computer died over the weekend and since Jesse is in RH and not here, he can’t get to it to fix it.  So now I’m sitting in an empty apartment with no form of entertainment.  God help me, this week better go by fast.
