The Latest & Greatest

So here’s the latest in my life…

Ian - is sleeping in his bed at this moment. Jesse and I started getting back into his bedtime routine last night. He spent most of the night with me on the couch again, but I was able to put him in his bed about 6am this morning and he slept there for 3 hours. Jesse and I did his routine tonight and he has been sleeping for 30 minutes now. Although we’re still waiting for him to get up. :) We’ll see how often he gets us up tonight. The past few nights, he’s only gotten up twice a night and even then, the second time was around 5-6am.

Jesse - is still adjusting to fatherhood, but I think he’ll be doing good now that I will be sleeping in our bed again and not on the couch. I know he seems to be in a better mood. He received his Christmas/birthday gift (a Wii) about 2 weeks before Ian was born and has been renting various games to see which ones he likes. At the moment, we have about 3 Wii games - Zelda, Rayman, and Excite Truck. I don’t think he has found any others to buy yet, although he did say that Ultimate Alliance (the Marvel one) wasn’t what he expected.

I found out tonight that Joslyn is getting married in June of this year. Her boyfriend of 5 years finally popped the question and he even did good on the ring too. The only sad news is that her fiance is getting transferred out to Colorado, so they are moving at the end of June. That’s okay though, I’ve been wanting to get back out to Colorado, now I’ll have a reason to even if I do have to wait awhile before going on a trip like that with Ian. :)

I am doing good. My body is finally adjusting to the sleep schedule Ian has us both on and the period from hell has finally stopped. I’m still a little sore, but only when I overdo it or do something stupid. I still haven’t gotten to the RH library, so I’m debating on buying the new Kim Harrison novel. Although I have to finish reading The No Cry Sleep Solution before I start another book. I mailed out the last of the Thank You/Birth Announcements yesterday. They are so cute, I had to get a 5×7 one so I could frame it.

Easter is April 9th and I’m thinking of going to find a Easter Bunny setup (kind of like Santa at Christmas) and getting Ian’s picture taken with him. Jesse doesn’t want me to, but it’s his first Easter. We’ll be spending Easter weekend with the Morgans, the following weekend with my side of the family and the last weekend of April in Grand Rapids, so April is going to be pretty busy. I’ve been updating the picture gallery weekly (that’s been the norm), so there are plenty of pictures of Ian up there. I think that’s about it for now. Ian’s been taking up the majority of my time and the other times have been spent with Jesse - he’s been feeling neglected, so that’s about all I have to report at the moment.

FYI - To my knowledge, everything is still going fine with PJ’s pregnancy. She’s due May 16th, so she’s starting to get into the last few months.

Author Update

As I previously stated, Lover Revealed by JR Ward came out a little earlier than expected. The fourth novel in the Back Dagger series dealt with the growing relationship between the human cop, Butch, and vampire, Marissa. I like how they solved the problem of getting the two together and how they incorporated Butch even more within the Brotherhood. I can’t wait for Vishous’ story, which happens to be next.

In other news, I’ve seen the first two chapters of For a Few Demons More by Kim Harrison and I’m liking the plot so far. The book comes out on Tuesday, so don’t forget about it. There’s another anthology coming out with Charlaine Harris and Kelley Armstrong stories in it. It’s not due to be released until October, but it’s called Many Bloody Returns. So I’ll be keeping a lookout for that. There is also some news on the Sookie series that is being developed for HBO. It seems that Anna Paquin has been signed for the role of Sookie. This is definitely sounding more and more of a reality. I can’t wait to see the series. Still no word on the next Outlander novel - so sad.

Free Cat

Filed Under (Family, Jesse, Random Thoughts) by myjaxon on 14-03-2007

We’re thinking we might have to get rid of one of the cats. Having two of them has been adding to Jesse’s stress level, plus it’s possible that’s why we’re not sleeping as good since we’re both allergic to cats. We’ve actually talked to the doc when we found out jesse was allergic to them as well, considering neither of us have noticed any reactions to them. She said that we may not have any of the obvious signs since we are around them so much, but that we may have more passive reactions, like getting tired or exhausted more frequently - it’s not like I have a sleeping disorder or Jesse gets mild cases of insomnia. :)

Honestly, I’m not excited about getting rid of one of the cats, but if that’s what we have to do we will. Of the two cats, we’re looking for a new home for Toby. Jesse is more attached to Chaos and plus with Chaos’ temperament, it would probably be easier to find a home for Toby. Plus, Toby is the only one who has hissed at Ian. So if you know of anyone who wants a 13 year old, is still in good health, has all her shots, front feet declawed (would need to be strictly indoors), and would be a good home. Let us know.

Sleep Wanted!

Filed Under (Ian, Jesse) by myjaxon on 13-03-2007

I know I know, Ian is a newborn and sleep is now a luxury. The problem is that since Ian developed RSV, he hasn’t been sleeping in his bed, but has to be held by either mama or daddy. Since this helps his congestions, we can’t complain too much since it helps him sleep; but the problem is that if we’re holding him, than we can’t go to sleep. The past couple of nights we’ve tried getting him to sleep in his bed and he would wake up within moments of us lying down. This wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t frustrate us.

Last night, we tried something new. I went to bed at 8:30pm and Jesse stayed up with Ian until 1am. Then it was my turn. I was able to close my eyes while Ian slept, but I didn’t really get any sleep. This helped Jesse and I a little - neither of us were frustrated since we couldn’t get him to sleep. He was sleeping, we just weren’t.

The only true problem with this resolution is that I’ve been up since 1am and I won’t be able to get some sleep until after Jesse is home at 6-6:30 tonight. We need to get Ian back to sleeping in his bed. We’re hoping that this is just a phase due to his RSV, because if it’s not, we’re going to be in trouble.  If anyone has any suggestions, let us know.  We’re willing to try anything, although we have already tried a lot.

The Invasion of Dreams

Filed Under (Writing) by myjaxon on 04-03-2007

Is it right not to dream,
to never hope for anything or anyone?

We live in a society dictated by realities,
forever reaching into our dreams,
forever hoping to escape the brutality of reality.
With realities upper hand, we are forever grasping,
grasping for the chance to be free -
free to be anyone we want, to be anywhere we want.
To be able to choose our own lives path,
to be able to make mistakes
without reality and society banishing us.
When will our dreams overtake our reality?
Will we always be slaves to reality,
or just her pawns.
When will we be free from societies bias way?

Now the war is on.
Our dreams have finally clashed with reality.
With our hopes and dreams fighting the dominant reality.
Will there be peace?
Or will the roles be reversed?
If our dreams shall win,
will reality try and break free,
just like our dreams did?
But do we want either reality
or our dreams to win?
Maybe the war will never be over?
Maybe our dreams and reality
will be forever fighting within us.
Maybe the war was just starting
and we will be the causalities
of this endless war forever.
