Some of you may know this, but I’m a huge net neutrality advocate. At least I try to be. Either way, the Senate introduced legislation earlier this week that would reverse the FCC’s decision to let the largest media companies swallow up more local and independent news outlets. Congress only has 60 days to pass it, which gives us time to write to our senators telling them we don’t want it to pass. If you want to join me in protesting this new bill, all you have to do is click on the following link and it’ll send you to StopBigMedia.com where they have a form you can fill out and they will make sure it gets to your senator.
It’s important that we continue getting unbiased and diverse reports from our news especially during this upcoming election season. We want to make sure we get all the facts, not just the ones they want us to know.

Tonight, Fox aired a new show called New Amsterdam. The show revolves around a homicide detective, Amsterdam, who won’t die until he finds his soul mate. He gets this reward, or curse depending on your viewpoint, from a Native American shaman. I’m not really sure why he become immortal, but it doesn’t revolve around a vampire who can only be out at night or any other paranormal handicaps, just a guy who has lived a really long time who has lost of experience. It’s actually kind of nice. This is a show that can attract a wide audience. It’s another crime show to attract the CSI/L&O junkies, yet it has that paranormal angle of immortality to attract those looking for something different. We’re going to see how Amsterdam handles having a partner, the search for his soul mate, and how he handles never being able to die.
Overall, I think the show has a lot of promise. It’s something that Jesse and I can watch - I get my paranormal fix and he gets a show with a decent plot.
