90210

Okay, it’s cheesey I know, but when I heard that 90210 was coming back, I was curious. Thanks to a website my husband won’t let me mention, I was able to find the first episode and take a look. It’s weird, but there are a couple of actors I recognize, mainly Jennie Garth is back on the set and this time she’s a school counselor. It’s kind of odd to watch a reemerging television prime soap drama with one of the original characters who was a teen in the first one and is now an adult. Strange, but I think it will only make it work better. Another actor I recognized was Rob Estes, although I mainly remember him from Silk Stalkings. He’s still cute though. And the last actress is Lori Loughlin, who starred in Full House in the early 90s.

The show itself is more or less just like the original as well as the OC, Dawson’s Creek, and all the other coming of age drama shows that have been popping up over the years. It’ll be interesting to see if this actually takes off like it’s predecessor or if it’ll tank in the first season.

Yard Envy

I so totally have yard envy. I completely blame my father since it really is all of his fault. He loves his yard and likes to take care of it. Plus, he has an awesome backyard. Let me show you. This is his back yard: (going from left to right)

Isn’t this an amazing backyard. It’s so big I couldn’t even get it in one shot or even two, but I need to take three pictures. The last (fourth) shot was a closeup of the flowerbed he put in awhile ago. My father has just under an acre of land and pretty much all of it is unused land. The yard is split in half with a line of trees and he even has a huge garden out in one corner. There is so much room here, we could easily build Ian a huge play structure of his own and we would never have to go to the park. Talk about the parties we could have…the playdates…just the enjoyment of such a yard. Yeah, I’m envious. Because this is what I have:

Don’t get me wrong, I love my yard. We did really good considering the area we live in. But when you grow up with the yard up above and spend a long weekend enjoying it. Coming back to mine is kind of…dull.  In theory, we could put up a swing set for Ian, but it would take up a lot of space and we really don’t have that much to begin with.  At just under .25 acres, our lot is kind of small.  It works for us though.  Especially since we don’t have the time or energy to put into our yard that my father does for his.  However, it’s still a shock going from one to the other.  I’m allowed my yard envy…after all, I’ll get his someday.

Pampered Chef Party

I’ve been talking about this for awhile and I’ve finally set it up. I’m going to be having a Pampered Chef party at my house on Oct. 18th in the afternoon. This isn’t the official invite, so keep an eye out for that, but please keep the date open. This will be my first one and I’m hoping we’ll have a lot of fun.

I’m really excited that I’ll be able to do this.  I’ve never had the chance to go to one before, although I have been invited, just time and circumstances wouldn’t allow it.  However, I’ve decided to make it so I can’t miss one and have one myself.  I have some of their stuff already and I love using it.

You Are a Chocolate Chip Cookie

So I found this cookie quiz and I’m not really sure if I agree with the end result.

Traditional and conservative, most people find you comforting.
You’re friendly and easy to get to know. This makes you very popular - without even trying!

I wouldn’t say that I’m popular, I really don’t make friends all that easy. But of all the cookies to be, I like chocolate chip.

About Me

I am a stay at home mom with my first child, sometimes wondering what I have gotten myself into. I have an amazingly supportive husband, who is also a computer geek with a slight anti-social complex.

I love books, but if you want to know more, check out Literary Escapism. I'm also beginning a new venture as a Pampered Chef Consultant. I love to cook and it's a great way to supplement our income while still staying home with Ian.
