Crazy Book Numbers

Posted by myjaxon On October - 28 - 2008 1 COMMENT

Something everyone may not know about me is that I tend to be a little too organized with my files.  That kind of includes books, CDs, DVDs, comics, etc.  Anything collectible.  I have all of our books, cds, dvds, video games, and comic books (well, I’m still working on this) in a database.  Each category has their own file and I keep a lot of info within the files.  Have you ever heard of Tellico?  It’s this great database engine that syncs up to Amazon, the Library of Congress, and a few others sites depending on what you’re using it for.  It’s great.  For example, here are all the books my family has.  Tellico so helps me with this addiction.

Anyway, we bought a house this summer and since the move, I’ve been wanting to go through and audit what books we have.  I found a used book store this summer, so I have been giving away and buying a few books over the past couple of months.  Plus with all the ones I’m getting for reviews, I’m not sure what I have anymore.  So I’m doing an audit. I’m not going to be able to do all of them simply because Jesse’s office isn’t unpacked yet.  We haven’t built his office downstairs yet, so his stuff is still in their boxes.

Here’s the first phase….what do I say I have at this point.  According to my records…

  • Ian has 59 books (3098 pages worth)
  • I have 317 books (131,305 pages worth)
  • Jesse has 178 books (71,176 pages worth)
  • and as a family we have 59 books (22,371 pages worth) - meaning books that all of us read, not just one of us.

That’s a collective total of 613 books (227,950 pages worth).  That’s a lot of books.  So here I go…once I’m done, I’ll let you know how it turned out.

3T Clothes for Ian

I just transitioned Ian’s cloths to all 2T (yes, that’s what he’s wearing now), so I’m starting my hunt for size 3T.  If anyone comes across any good deals (either online or at stores), can you let me know?  I’m preparing for next summer when I think he’ll be entering that phase, so I don’t need anything now, but I’m starting to collect it now so I don’t have to get it all at once next year.

Thanks!

Ian was in such a happy mood tonight that it was infectious…

This was posted in one of my groups and I had to share it. It’s kind of amusing and I am happy to say that Argument 4 really doesn’t work for me. At least I would hope that Jesse agrees with me.

About Me

I am a stay at home mom with my first child, sometimes wondering what I have gotten myself into. I have an amazingly supportive husband, who is also a computer geek with a slight anti-social complex.

I love books, but if you want to know more, check out Literary Escapism. I'm also beginning a new venture as a Pampered Chef Consultant. I love to cook and it's a great way to supplement our income while still staying home with Ian.
