Michigan Renaissance Festival

Posted by myjaxon On May - 25 - 2007 2 COMMENTS

Michigan has a HUGE Renaissance Festival in Holly every year and I really want to go this year. I’ve been to it in the past and it is a blast. It is open for 8 weekends and I have no specific date that I am interested in, so I’m seeing if anyone else wants to go and which dates work for them. If you want to go, make a comment so others can see who’s interested as well. Here is the info:

Weekend Themes:
Buccaneer Beer Fest: Aug. 18th and 19th
Grab your tankard and set sail to Hollygrove for adventure and fun.

Highland Fling: Aug. 25th and 26th
Kick up your heels with traditional Scottish music and the annual Highland Games.

High Seas Adventure: Sept. 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Drown yourself in laughter at the Swab the Deck game or Perfect Pirate Contest

Wonders of the World: Sept. 15th and 16th
Join us as we celebrate cultures from across the globe with International Dances and Song.

Shamrocks and Shenanigans: Sept. 22nd and 23rd
Celebrate everything Celtic during our Irish Heritage Festival.

Sweet Endings: Sept. 29th and 30th
Parting is such sweet sorrow, but we make it better with our tasty Chocolate Festival.

Ticket Prices:
$17.95 for Adults
$8.95 for Children
I can get tickets ahead of time so we won’t have to wait in line, but in order to do so, I’ll need to know who’s interested and have their money in hand.

Directions:
The Festival is located in Holly, Michigan off I-75, exit 106, on Dixie Highway between Pontiac and Flint.

I-75 Northbound Traffic:
Exit 106 (Grand Blanc), stay in left lane of exit, travel two blocks.
Turn left onto Dixie Highway, southbound. The Festival is two miles
south to the right.

I-75 Southbound Traffic:
Exit 106 (Dixie Highway - this is a left exit). Merge to the right.
The Festival is located two miles south on the right.

The Morgan Family

It’s been a month (34 days, 12 hours, 32 minutes and 59 seconds old as of 2007-04-01 17:34:59 - gotta love the Internet counters) since Ian was born and I thought I would update everyone on some Morgan news.

We finally got a decent “Morgan Family” picture done of the three of us and I wanted to share it with everyone.

For those who didn’t hear, Ian was diagnosed with RSV (a cold for you and me, but more severe with Ian) when he was 12 days old and he is finally doing a lot better. You can still hear some wheezing, but it is nothing like it was. We’re now working on getting him to sleep in his bed and once he does that, he should be sleeping through the night. He already sleeps through the night when he sleeps with mama, but we’re trying to get away from that (when he was sick, it helped his congestion to sleep on my chest, which meant I didn’t get much sleep at all, if any). He likes to sleep on his tummy, but unfortunately, he’s not allowed to do that unless Jesse or I watch him and we’re not going to stay up at night to do that. :)

Jesse and I are starting to adjust to our new sleep schedules and we’re doing better than a month ago. Exhaustion is still our constant companion, but we’re coping. We are currently getting ready for a month of traveling with an infant. We have trips plan to see all of the grandparents and more family members this month as well as a trip out to Grand Rapids (hopefully). Jesse was finally allowed to upgrade our file and web server into one machine and is happily dealing with that as well as playing on the Wii. I’m slowly learning how to do things one handed while having Ian with me. I have my 6 week check up with my doctor on Thursday, so we’ll see how well I’m doing then. On the plus side, I have lost most of my pregnancy weight as well as some additional pounds.

That’s it for now. Enjoy the pictures.

Jesse has been wanting to upgrade the file and web servers for awhile now and I finally let him once our data started getting corrupted (thank god he was able to fix it). He got it all put together on Thursday and felt the need to share the size of it.

The Latest & Greatest

So here’s the latest in my life…

Ian - is sleeping in his bed at this moment. Jesse and I started getting back into his bedtime routine last night. He spent most of the night with me on the couch again, but I was able to put him in his bed about 6am this morning and he slept there for 3 hours. Jesse and I did his routine tonight and he has been sleeping for 30 minutes now. Although we’re still waiting for him to get up. :) We’ll see how often he gets us up tonight. The past few nights, he’s only gotten up twice a night and even then, the second time was around 5-6am.

Jesse - is still adjusting to fatherhood, but I think he’ll be doing good now that I will be sleeping in our bed again and not on the couch. I know he seems to be in a better mood. He received his Christmas/birthday gift (a Wii) about 2 weeks before Ian was born and has been renting various games to see which ones he likes. At the moment, we have about 3 Wii games - Zelda, Rayman, and Excite Truck. I don’t think he has found any others to buy yet, although he did say that Ultimate Alliance (the Marvel one) wasn’t what he expected.

I found out tonight that Joslyn is getting married in June of this year. Her boyfriend of 5 years finally popped the question and he even did good on the ring too. The only sad news is that her fiance is getting transferred out to Colorado, so they are moving at the end of June. That’s okay though, I’ve been wanting to get back out to Colorado, now I’ll have a reason to even if I do have to wait awhile before going on a trip like that with Ian. :)

I am doing good. My body is finally adjusting to the sleep schedule Ian has us both on and the period from hell has finally stopped. I’m still a little sore, but only when I overdo it or do something stupid. I still haven’t gotten to the RH library, so I’m debating on buying the new Kim Harrison novel. Although I have to finish reading The No Cry Sleep Solution before I start another book. I mailed out the last of the Thank You/Birth Announcements yesterday. They are so cute, I had to get a 5×7 one so I could frame it.

Easter is April 9th and I’m thinking of going to find a Easter Bunny setup (kind of like Santa at Christmas) and getting Ian’s picture taken with him. Jesse doesn’t want me to, but it’s his first Easter. We’ll be spending Easter weekend with the Morgans, the following weekend with my side of the family and the last weekend of April in Grand Rapids, so April is going to be pretty busy. I’ve been updating the picture gallery weekly (that’s been the norm), so there are plenty of pictures of Ian up there. I think that’s about it for now. Ian’s been taking up the majority of my time and the other times have been spent with Jesse - he’s been feeling neglected, so that’s about all I have to report at the moment.

FYI - To my knowledge, everything is still going fine with PJ’s pregnancy. She’s due May 16th, so she’s starting to get into the last few months.

Free Cat

We’re thinking we might have to get rid of one of the cats. Having two of them has been adding to Jesse’s stress level, plus it’s possible that’s why we’re not sleeping as good since we’re both allergic to cats. We’ve actually talked to the doc when we found out jesse was allergic to them as well, considering neither of us have noticed any reactions to them. She said that we may not have any of the obvious signs since we are around them so much, but that we may have more passive reactions, like getting tired or exhausted more frequently - it’s not like I have a sleeping disorder or Jesse gets mild cases of insomnia. :)

Honestly, I’m not excited about getting rid of one of the cats, but if that’s what we have to do we will. Of the two cats, we’re looking for a new home for Toby. Jesse is more attached to Chaos and plus with Chaos’ temperament, it would probably be easier to find a home for Toby. Plus, Toby is the only one who has hissed at Ian. So if you know of anyone who wants a 13 year old, is still in good health, has all her shots, front feet declawed (would need to be strictly indoors), and would be a good home. Let us know.

About Me

I am a stay at home mom with my first child, sometimes wondering what I have gotten myself into. I have an amazingly supportive husband, who is also a computer geek with a slight anti-social complex.

I love books, but if you want to know more, check out Literary Escapism. I'm also beginning a new venture as a Pampered Chef Consultant. I love to cook and it's a great way to supplement our income while still staying home with Ian.
