For my 8th grade English class (April 1994), I had to write an "origin" poem. So, here it is...

Amethyst

One sunny day in Ancient Rome
a child was drawing four purple dots
when his father called for him.
During the night
two full moons shining together
saw teh four breathtaking
dots and though of how
radiant they all looked.
As the two moonbeams
were looking, their beams
collided turing the dots into rocks.
The next morning
as the child saw the rocks
he took them to his brother,
and as teh rocks began to sparkle,
they both thought of their dead mother,
Amethyst.
